A few weeks ago, I had an email exchange with my placement specialist advising me that I would likely hear from him this week after he had an opportunity to do an in-depth review of my application. As you may recall, he is considering me for a fisheries/aquaculture job placement in an unknown (to me) location. Two days ago (May 28th), I emailed the following (names hidden to protect anonymity):
Just wanted to check in. Hope your holiday weekend was lovely and relaxing. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to be helpful.
Translation: HEY! DON’T FORGET ABOUT ME!
Today, I received this email:
My heart just about leaped out of my throat. I immediately downloaded and filled out the survey. It was extremely similar to the one that I completed for my original health nomination, with a few tweaks on the questions. I emailed it back not 20 minutes after receiving it.
Later that day, I received this email:
Thank you for the quick reply. I hope to send your Invitation out tomorrow; it depends on a technical glitch in our system. If that is not corrected by tomorrow, I will be sending it out as soon as it is fixed.
Oh my gosh! It’s finally happening! Needless to say I probably won’t sleep a wink tonight. As I’m still on my road trip and will be traveling most of the day tomorrow, I won’t have much access to email. Oh, the agony! Please cross all your fingers and toes for me that the system glitch is fixed and I receive that golden invite tomorrow!
